A smoothie bowl with fruits the colors of a beautiful sunrise. Bright strawberry red, the orange glow of mango, and the soothing yellow of a banana. Add in a touch of sweet passion fruit and you have the sunrise in a bowl.
Smoothies and smoothie bowls can be a great way to get in some much needed nutrients to get you going for the day. Take this opportunity to add in some greens, fiber, protein, antioxidants, and a whole bunch of vitamins. This smoothie bowl is packed with Vitamin C so when you need a boost this is the perfect way to get it.
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen passion fruit
handful spinach or kale, fresh or frozen
1T hemp seeds
2T to 1/4 cup non-dairy milk
1 tsp maca powder, optional
juice from half a lemon
Add you fruit, spinach, hemp seeds, maca powder, and lemon juice to a high-speed blender or food processor. Start with 2 tablespoons of the milk.
Add a tablespoon of milk at a time as needed. You don't want to add too much at once or you will have a smoothie instead of a smoothie bowl...but hey, if that happens, grab a straw and enjoy anyway! Scrape down the sides as you go, if needed. Blend until smooth and creamy. It should look like soft serve ice cream.
Pour into a bowl and add your favorite toppings. The toppings are the best part and a great chance to add in some good nutrients to start your day!
Note: Passionfruit, fresh or frozen, can be hard to find so if you don’t have any just use more mango or throw in another fruit you have like raspberries or pineapple.
Toppings are the best part of a smoothie bowl!
The fun part! You can add any kind of fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, or granola for the toppings. Shredded coconut, hemp seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, dusting of cocoa powder, goji berries, etc. I topped mine with fresh mango, dragon fruit, star fruit, Mango Macadamia Granola, and chia seeds.
